Brain Health Research Study
Predicting brain aging through a simple blood test — so we can help detect risk early and take action sooner.
About this study
NeuroAge Therapeutics is conducting groundbreaking research to further investigate our blood test that can predict your brain's biological age — which may differ from your calendar age. This test helps identify individuals at higher risk for memory problems and Alzheimer's disease years before symptoms appear, giving people the opportunity to take action early.
Brain age is modifiable
Our research shows that biological brain age can be influenced by everyday choices, meaning lifestyle changes can reduce dementia risk in those without a diagnosis and slow or reverse brain aging in those already diagnosed with early Alzheimer's or mild cognitive impairment.
Funded by the ADDF
This research is funded by the Alzheimer's Drug Discovery Foundation, which supports innovative approaches to early detection, prevention, and treatment of Alzheimer's disease.
Who can participate?
We're currently prioritizing participants who meet the following criteria:
- Adults ages 50 years or older
- We are prioritizing participants with a diagnosis of MCI or early Alzheimer's (MMSE 18–27)
- We may start recruiting individuals without neurological diagnoses again in the future
- All physical activity levels welcome
- Must be able to undergo brain MRI scanning
What's involved?
The study is designed to be straightforward for participants, with an optional extended program for those invited to continue.
Initial assessment
- A simple at-home blood draw to measure biological aging markers — a phlebotomist comes to you
- Brain MRI scan to assess brain structure and health, performed at one of our partner MRI clinics near you
- Memory and thinking tests (about 45 minutes)
- Participation involves tracking only, with no medications required
Lifestyle & Prevention ExtensionNew
Some participants will be invited to continue in our extended study examining how lifestyle factors affect brain aging:
- 12-Month Follow-Up: Full reassessment including blood tests, MRI, and cognitive testing
- 24-Month Follow-Up: Full reassessment including blood tests, MRI, and cognitive testing
- Personalized lifestyle guidance — exercise, nutrition, sleep, and cognitive activity
- A lifestyle-tracking wearable (Oura ring) will be provided to some participants
Why participate?
Know your brain's biological age
Learn how your brain is aging and what you can do to protect it going forward.
Complimentary MRI, cognitive assessment, and blood biomarkers
Receive a brain MRI and a detailed cognitive assessment at no cost.
Advance Alzheimer's research
Contribute to research that could help millions slow down or prevent Alzheimer's disease.
Track your brain health over time
See the impact of lifestyle changes on your biological brain age year after year.
Personalized guidance
Get tailored recommendations across exercise, nutrition, sleep, and cognitive activity.
Wearable insights
Invited participants receive an Oura ring to help track lifestyle factors that matter.
